Arno Morland was born in South Africa in 1971. After school he completed a year of millitary conscription and began his studies in Psychology, Philosophy and Theology. After completing degrees at the University of Johannesburg and the University of Pretoria, he started taking courses in painting and Art history. After a few years of working part-time and experimenting, he got his first solo exhibition in 1999. More solo and group exhibitions followed in the next few years. He also enrolled for an MFA at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2003, completing it two years later.
Morland then moved to the United States, where he became involved in various design-related activities. A number of years later he began painting again and showed some of his work in Chicago. He then moved to the United Kingdom, where he continued to produce paintings and also started to experiment with sculpture. In 2018 he returned to South Africa, where he has since participated in a number of solo and group exhibitions. His interest in sculpture has also continued to grow and it is currently the main focus of his creative endeavours. He lives and works near Cape Town, South Africa.
