A pig is often seen as a lowly animal. In this artwork, the pig has managed to free himself from this position. As the pig is suspended on stilts, it feels weightless and exonerated.
.
Across cultures, people have analysed the pig's character. Accordingly, the pig is a symbol of happiness, good luck, wealth, and strength, but the animal is also associated with overindulgence, greed, and ignorance.
.
Interestingly there are anatomical and physiological similarities between humans and pigs. For example, pig skin, organ size, organ placement, and function are similar to human organs. Consequently pigs are often used for human medical research.
.
In this depiction the pig walks without shame, while humanity braces itself for the eventualities of the Anthropocene.
