Artists: Mats Elliott

Mats Elliott is a young South African artist. While completing his philosophy masters at UCT, he developed his unique abstract art style. His fineliner drawings start with tiny, irregular patterns, which gradually combine into the larger image. This organic approach, similar to automatic writing, often leads to unexpected, but striking compositions. 

Mats often names his artworks after the emotions he was feeling at the time. He finds that drawing is similar to meditation: it helps process difficult thoughts, and calm his overactive autistic mind.
