Artists: Elfriede Dreyer

Elfriede Dreyer is an accomplished artist, curator, and mentor, currently serving as a Professor of Art at Unisa. She is renowned for her conceptual and intermedial approach to painting, creating both painterly digital works and abstract physical paintings.

Elfriede's artworks have been showcased in major galleries, museums, universities, and art festivals globally. Her pieces are held in esteemed public collections such as the University of Pretoria, Unisa, Telkom, the DBSA, FNB, and numerous private collections.

Her academic background includes a D Litt et Phil in Art History, an MA in Visual Arts, and qualifications in Philosophy, French, Interactive Multimedia, and Piano. Elfriede has published extensively in local and international academic journals and books.

She is a sought-after adjudicator for prestigious national competitions like the Absa l'Atelier, Sasol New Signatures, and the Portrait Award. In 2015, Elfriede established the CAP Institute for Contemporary Art Practice and previously founded the Fried Contemporary Gallery in Pretoria in 2005.
