Established in 1682, Blaauwklippen stands as one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa. Its legacy is a testament to its abounding past, evident in the beautifully preserved homesteads, outbuildings, wine cellars, and sprawling gardens. This historical backdrop serves as an ideal canvas for the contemporary pieces that IS Art has brought to exhibit at the estate.

IS Art made a careful selection of work that not only represents the excellent contemporary art that South Africa has to offer, but also that harmonises with the traditional ambience of Blaauwklippen. The result is an inspired integration of old and new, past and present.

“We wanted to create a space where the past and present coalesce. Blaauwklippen’s historical and atmosphere and architecture provided the perfect setting for this. Our selection of work from a variety of notable South African artists bridges the gap between traditional and modern, offering visitors a unique and carefully curated experience.” Says Ilse Schermers, owner, and curator of the IS Art gallery.

Visitors of the gallery can expect to see a diverse range of work, from sculpture by Anton Momberg, Maritza Breitenbach, and Manuela Holzer, to paintings by Paula van Coller Louw, Jaco Benade, and Linda Weaver, as well as mixed media work by Juanita Oosthuizen and Lindsay Quirk, and many more.
